In Western countries, perceptions shaped by colonialism are still very present. These condition not only individual forms of discrimination in the interpersonal, but also marginalisation on a structural level.

A superficial view of the queer movement as a dazzling symbol of diversity, equality and freedom of expression of sexuality, gender and relationship carries the temptation to romanticise the queer community as fundamentally free of discrimination. It is neglected that manifold approaches of marginalisation in a white dominant society are passed on as social knowledge and fed into a worldview and communication, from which queer spaces are not exempt.

The conviction that queer spaces are decolonised is an illusion. Eurocentric codes, basic assumptions and racisms are inscribed in the queer movement and lead to a predominantly white representation of queer life realities. This can be observed multidimensionally from the academic educational elite of queer theory to the insufficient recognition of historically relevant BIPoC actors for the initiation and development of queer struggles in feminist discourse to the white appropriation of Pride events.

In this lecture we would like to address the different queer fields in which White Supremacy and Eurocentrism are reproduced from a critical whiteness perspective. The aim is to create a theoretical knowledge base that can be used for an active decolonisation of queer spaces.
