Call for participation 2019

We call you up to participate, get active and commit for a brighter society: a society without racism and other inhuman manners

Our annual festival will take for the fourth time this year in Ulm und Neu-Ulm. We want to put up resistance against political inhuman manners  and racism in Germany and the world. We want to shed light on racist ways of thinking and on racist structures in our society. We want to sensitize and animate people to fight for living together without discrimination.

Racism is a phenomenon constructed by white people, to promote the social value of their own group, which is done by devaluation of other groups. For this, the suppressed group is attributed to characteristics, which directly cause suppression or discrimination. This phenomenon is younger than the word racism itself, but unfortunately this is not widely known in society.

In Ulm and Neu-Ulm, people might know the Scholl siblings, who revolted against the nazi regime. But who knows Rosa Luisa Park, who fought for black rights in Alabama in 1955 or Francois-Dominique Toussaint L’Ouverture who lead the Haitian revolution?

Nelson Mandela might also be a quite known figure for resistance, but who knows rebels of the Herrero riot, who died for their fight against German colonial rulers?

We, the organizational team of the festival contre le racism in Ulm and Neu-Ulm want to give a face to all those fighters for human rights, against racism. We will do a journey through time and will deal with colonialism and resistance against it.

Let’s start altogether to set an example against racism and inhuman manners

The festival contre le racisme will take place from the 22nd July until the 14th of June in and around Ulm and Neu-Ulm
