Pedagogical responses to migration & the danger of culturalization
📅 25.06.21 ⌚ 2-5 pm 📌 online 💬 German

How has pedagogy responded to migration so far? What is the understanding of "culture" underlying the different approaches? How can I, as an educator, counter discrimination and culturalization? To find answers, we will combine theoretical inputs with interactive methods. For this purpose, pedagogical reactions to migration movements in Germany since the 1960s will be shown and pedagogical approaches, such as "Ausländerpädagogik", "Interkulturelle Pädagogik" and "Migrationspädagogik " will be introduced, classified in time and critically examined.

Both, interactive methods from the field of prejudice-conscious educational work and the examination of case examples will help us shed a light on our current educational practices. The aim is to uncover and counter culturalization and discrimination as well as to do justice to the plurality of our migration society through a critical attitude towards racism and an awareness of its diversity.
