We will explore significant individuals who have shaped Afro-German history through their extraordinary achievements and tireless efforts. Their stories are inspiring, powerful, and often inextricably linked to the struggle against racism and injustice.

However, our workshop goes beyond mere historical facts. We also want to create a space where everyone can contribute their ideas, thoughts and experiences. After the 1 hr long lecture, there will be an open discussion session where you can exchange ideas with the speakers and other participants. This is an opportunity for everyone to raise their voices and discuss the challenges as well as the progress of the Black community in Germany. This unique event combines proven historical aspects with current conditions to create a comprehensive picture of Afro-German history and, in some cases, the present.

The interactive workshop on Afro-German history and its heroines will be led by speakers Marving and Desiree Ekani. Both have already held several workshops on anti-Black racism and have been running a Black children and youth group in Ulm (Afrokids and Afroyouth Ulm) for a couple of years. Their profound expertise, their dynamic way of lecturing and their commitment create an inviting atmosphere in which participants feel comfortable and can contribute their perspectives.
