Do you know how much CO2 emissions are involved in the production and transport steps of 500g of coffee? Do you know how much rainforest was cleared and how much water was used in the process? Do you know how and by whom our coffee is produced and what the working conditions of the people on the long way of the coffee, from the rainforest until it reaches your cup, look like? 

This talk will present how the various aspects of our imperial lifestyle, including our consumption patterns, are linked to the exploitation of people and nature around the world, and how the Global North benefits from exploitative relationships with the Global South.

In addition, examples of emancipatory movements will be presented and opportunities for self-empowerment to shape a more fair and environmentally friendly world will be discussed
