Sound of Solidarität
📅 26.06. ⌚ 5pm 📌 Stadhaus Ulm 💬 multilingual
After two years of pandemic and online rehearsals, the Ulm choir Kontrapunkt under Agnes Schmauder is back with a new choir director and a new programme. In these turbulent, crisis-ridden and unsettling times, the choir of a somewhat different kind sings about the social togetherness and antagonism in Germany and the world from different perspectives and directs the view back to a central value that has never lost its meaning and yet is gaining in topicality again right now: solidarity!
For more than 40 years, the political choir - consisting of about 30 singers of different ages - has combined social commitment with the joy of singing and has dedicated its grassroots-democratic programmes to developments and upheavals that can be observed in society and politics. In doing so, he takes his audience on a journey through the most diverse genres and times. The songs are German and international, entertaining and critical, traditional and modern, harmonious and quirky, with instrumental accompaniment and a cappella, political and ironic - and they all have a message.
With "Sound of Solidarity", the choir "Kontrapunkt" sings about the need to show consideration for each other and stand up for the weaker, especially in times when we feel fragile and threatened. From traditional workers' songs to Wolf Biermann and Konstantin Wecker to Sting, from German to English and Portuguese to Swedish and Zulu - this varied programme touches to tears and laughter and is intended to do one thing above all: encourage!
